Taste Testing

Taste Test
Henry: "What's this?"
Zachary: "Buffet Line!"

No boys, this is a taste test. You are supposed to judge the cookies on eye appeal and nutritional makeup and then I'll photograph the winner.

Taste Test
Henry: "Cookies are for eating."

Well, yes... eventually... maybe one cookie.

Dog Blog Post #753

Hold that thought.

Yesterday, I ran out of space to post the boys' First Journal Entries, as found over at BZ Dogs Journal. Since they subsequently fussed, here's a snippet from each of their journals.

Zachary:
A blank page.

Is there anything more intimidating? More daunting? Once there are words, they can be built on. Once a voice, then it can be refined, expanded, or changed altogether.

Until then... nothing.

A thousand thoughts explode in all directions and then wink out, unfulfilled. Should I write about my daily life, my hopes, my dreams?

What? You don't think I have dreams? Aspirations?

Henry:
Cookies.

Momma said I should write what comes to mind, but all I can think of is Cookies.

I had quite the battle with Google Sites and their Announcements capability this evening, and the font and font size to display them in.

I think Google Sites won this round.

Moving on...

  • Our Daily Challenge - July 19, 2012 - "Treat Yourself"

The Plan

The boys decided they needed to have a taste test.

The Problems

Well, for one, I have more kinds of cookies than I have ramekins, so I had to whittle the selection down to the most photogenic/widest assortment of shapes and sizes. So there are near cubes, bones, triangles, a rectangle, circles, and squares.

After that, the biggest issues were drooling (snap, wipe, snap, wipe, snap, wipe...) and aperture. In order to get from the letters out front all the way to the dogs' eyes in focus, I ended up going with f7.1.

Not my preference, as I have to turn up the flash to get it well lit.

The Solution

Oh - you want to know the winner?

The boys unanimously declared it to be a six-way tie for first.

Taste Test

And then they both got four cookies of various sorts.

Ha ha ha! Oh, I love these! I took our pictures before we left for the nursing home and then when we got back, I was so tired, I didn't even download them yet. Gah! And there's not much time tonight, either. Insanity, I tell you!

Anyway, I think the boys definitely deserved those treats! Well done! I love the journal entries, too. Hee hee!
