But then we get to...

Our Daily Challenge - Apr 9, 2012 - "Dutch Angle"

... and things get a bit weird.

Dutch Angle?

Thankfully, Wikipedia knows all: "achieved by tilting the camera off to the side so that the shot is composed with vertical lines at an angle to the side of the frame," and "often used to portray the psychological uneasiness or tension in the subject being filmed."

Well... who'd a thunk it. Turns out all those crooked pictures I take actually have a fancy name.

(I'm thinking this might have more to do with someone famous trying to hide the fact they took crooked pictures behind a fancy name than any redeeming quality to the technique... but what do I know.)

Alas, this is one of those shoots that looked a lot better in my mind than out of the camera.

Oh well, tomorrow dawns a new day and new challenges...

I tend to agree with you! I had no idea that those off kilter shots I made had a fancy name I could use. I had the same problem you did. In my mind, I could see how I wanted it to look, but when it came out of the camera, eh...
