High Contrast

Thru the Blinds

Dog Blog Post #552: Is it really friday already???

Today's Daily Dog Challenge was

60. High Contrast - Take a high contrast photo of your dog today!

And wouldn't you know, the day dawned (and stayed) gray and gloomy, except for about 5 minutes in the late afternoon, when I was able to bang off a few shots of the sort-of sun coming through the blinds...

Thru the Blinds

Preferred the shot of Zachary (above) but the sun was already going back into the gloom by then so I went the shot of Henry.

On a more... creative... side, we have

"Ghostly Bokeh"

Ghostly Bokeh

The Christmas tree lights, in an unlit room, on a 1 second exposure, manual focus to create "pleasing" bokeh spots, twisting the zoom ring while trying to hold the camera steady during the exposure.

Best of about 20 tries.

Rather looks like a radiant bird to me. :)

Bah! I'd have killed for just five minutes of sunshine yesterday! You're darned lucky! :P

I think the bokeh shot is really cool! I want to try to get something and use the star effect on it before all the twinkling lights are gone for the year.

You almost have a "mockingjay" effect going in that last picture. Either way, it's beautiful!

The first shot is so beautiful. I would never guessed in all of the shots you have taken of Zachary there was so much contrast of light and dark in his face. So beautiful.

I've really appreciated your photography and the creativity you put into it. I have my favorites, but you give a new definition to the art of it. Thanks for being part of our world and Have a Happy New Year!

Love the light streaming through.

When I was at Costco today I sawi one of those "Happy Light" things. I have kicked myself all day because I didn't want to spend the $50, now I have to wait until Monday. Check it out, I think it could cast some fabulous lighting.
