Dog Blog Post #1685

Even a Shadowed Golden Retriever isn't very Ominous.

Sorry guys, this just isn't the role for you.

Photography Assignment

Our Daily Challenge - Feb 02 2015 - "Shadowed"

Daily Dog Challenge1193. "Ominous"

Behind the Scenes

Today's setup was the first time I've tried the reflector behind the boys.

Behind the Scenes

The flash was in it's usual spot behind the umbrella on the right, although angled upward a bit to better hit the reflector.

The other reflector is in its usual spot clipped to the fridge handle, but turned black side out (anti-reflector?) to keep the flash from reflecting off the bright white fridge as I wanted shadows there.

Zachary is standing in his usual spot in hopes he will get some extra Cookies even though the shoot is over.

The camera (on tripod as the was a slow exposure 1/3s to avoid using the flash) is much higher, farther away, and to the right than for the actual photos.

The Stunt Double

Jungle Kitty is my Go-To model when I'm trying out new lighting/positioning schemes.

As I wanted the boys to be seated, and Jungle Kitty prefers laying down, I have him propped up on the orange Lacrosse Ball bucket.

Trying to make a Golden Retriever look ominous is a near impossible task, especially when using your sweet boys. Maybe it would have worked if they were cloaked in black for a bitey-face play session. :-)
Still, great photos.
