Dog Blog Post #440: Today's Daily Shoot assignment...
Thursday: Make a photograph of a beautiful simple shape, such as an egg, today. Utilize lighting and focus to make it sing.
... was a rough one. Last time this came around I did an eye...
... so today I thought I'd focus (cough) on ears.
Henry's ears, to be exact, as Zachary's, if you'll recall from Wordless Wednesday...
... are rather fluffy at the moment.
For the curious, the AKC Standard for Golden Retriever ears reads: "Ears rather short with front edge attached well behind and just above the eye and falling close to cheek. When pulled forward, tip of ear should just cover the eye. Low, hound-like ear set to be faulted."
And, in fact, if you take their ears and pull them forward, they line up right where they should be. Of course, the dog can't see anything, and one has to wonder why in the world they dreamed up such a measuring method, but there you have it.

Glad folks enjoyed yesterday's Poker Game shot. One of the Scavenge Challenge items for this month is to "show a favorite indulgence." While ice cream is right up near the top, I have to say that taking the Daily Shoot pictures, particularly staged shots like that one, might actually win out.
Yeah, I know, I'm a bit strange. :)

I'd never have thought of an ear, but I'd have had to shoot Morgan's for that assignment, since I don't think Bunny's little rosebuds would qualify as a simple shape. That assignment was tough!
Of all the shots, that one of Henry's profile is my favorite! I just love it!
I'm groaning over today's DS, though. Why couldn't that have been over the weekend when I could go out and find a nice old road or hiking path? *sigh*
I frequently take close up photos of my dogs' ears, tails, paws, etc. I find these shots really interesting, and I love every little detail!
