Sleepy Sunday

Sleepy Sunday

Dog Blog Post #436: What a marvelous Daily Shoot for a long (here in the US) weekend.

Illustrate your idea of a relaxing Sunday today in a photograph.

... and you would think it would have been easy.

And you would be wrong.

My first thought was...

...

...

...

... yup. A complete blank. Not often I draw a complete blank. My ideas may be lousy at times, even most times, but it's a rare occasion when walking through the house chanting the theme of the day ("Relaxing, relaxing, relaxing") doesn't cause something to come to mind.

Perhaps it's because I didn't actually have a relaxing day, instead spending it cleaning out my closet - including stacks of papers with such "priceless" treasures as a printout of a program I wrote in college, well over two decades ago, and a 2 foot high pile of unused puzzle books.

But I needed "relaxing", so lacking any better ideas, I fell back on the old "food on the TV tray with the dogs watching a football game" trick. And it might have worked, had I actually managed to get the dogs and the food and the TV all in focus and in the frame.

(sigh)

Next.

Rather annoyed with my failure with the food, and the fact I hadn't noticed it was a failure until I had fed the props to the models, I took the big dog pillow into the living room, covered it with a blanket, added one of the old sofa pillows, my Snuggie (stop laughing - I love it!) and a toy duck.

Presto, instant bed time.

This was clearly a job for Henry, as Zachary goes nuts for the duck and there was no way he was going to do "sleepy" for me.

Henry came through...

But alas, the lighting was terrible.

Next.

Out of ideas, I moved to cleaning out the kitchen pantry (Oldest item? A bag of brown rice which expired in 2005. Clearly, I need to clean out the pantry more often.)

Meanwhile, the boys had given up on me as a source of entertainment and zonked out on the floor.

And finally, at least, I got a picture (waaaaay up top.)

Whew!

Sometimes, I really do work too hard at this.

Now, now... stop your fussing. I can see the comments now - "But did Zachary ever get some quality Duck Time???"

Why yes he did...

... but I'd be hard pressed to pawn that off as "relaxing". :)

I think you could have easily passed the duck photos off as relaxing on a Sunday. After all, everyone's idea of what's relaxing is different. For us, going out hiking is relaxing, but it might not be for everyone. I actually like all of the shots, and I think that one of Henry is my favorite, but that's just my preference! I love that it looks like a halo around his head.

And now I have to go get ready for our hike because I need that shot of our world! *grin* I hope you and the boys are having a relaxing day!

You crack me up. My guess would be that Zachary thought he was relaxing as much as Henry did.

It's pretty amazing how much stuff piles up, isn't it?

Henry sure does look relaxed. Zachary look as if the duck rivals his lacrosse ball for a favourite toy!
