The Evening Shoot

Behind The Scenes
Henry: "Zzzzzz"

Behind The Scenes
Henry: "Ready?"

Dog Blog Post #2046

The boys love the evening ritual of the Photo Shoot, and won't settle down for the evening until it occurs.

Is it the Cookies that flow freely? The undivided (or at worst bifurcated) attention? The possibility of a novel and/or edible prop?

Most likely some combination of all of the above.

The shoot typically takes place in my Kitchen, which is transformed into a "Studio" in a few short minutes with two sheets of trifold cardboard, some lengths of fabric, a few lights, some props, and my trusty camera.

Henry always goes first. This was originally a concession to his youth, holding reliable Zachary as Plan B in case things didn't work as planned.

At this point it's part habit, part Henry's whining and fussing if he DOESN'T get to go first, but mostly because the pup has the patience of a saint and is happy to cool his paws for however long it takes to get things set up.

He knows where he's supposed to be, and trots over and lays there until the Cookies come out indicating we are ready to begin.

Here he is, unposed, having plopped himself down on the dog bed and fabric I was going to use. I draped the damask fabric over him and went about my business getting set up.

He happily dozed until I was ready.

Ready Now

Once the shoot begins, Henry's mind is completely focused on the Cookies while his patience holds him place until I get the shot. This makes him very "moldable" and steady.

In contrast, Zachary likes to work quickly. He goes from 0 to 60 with the flick of a Cookie, and is always trying to guess what I want before I ask for it - which can lead to some rather amusing moments.

Maybe you need one of those top hats like the Punxsutawney People wear.

If they are looking for their Shadow they are looking in the wrong direction!

Peace and Tranquility

I had so much fun playing with filters yesterday that I decided to do it again.

Different picture, of course.

Alas, I'm in one room and my iPad (containing the app I used) is in another.

And I don't want to move.

So I'll invent names that may (or may not) resemble the actual names.

Dog Blog Post #2044

It was a hard day for the pup.

The neighbor decided to dig to China... er... replace their driveway... umm... fix a fencepost or two... resulting in much jackhammering, drilling, sawing, etc - and one very unhappy Henry.

Taking pity on the pup, we retreated to the relative quiet of the back part of the house, some favorite (and noise covering) tunes, and the comfort of the Big Bed.

He snuggled close, and soon closed eyes, deep breathing, and the occasional paw twitch were...
