Zachary: "Grocery Day! I wonder what we have? A nice juicy steak?
Filet of salmon? Some poultry, perhaps?"

Zachary: "Mom, we need to talk."

The boys usually show intense Curiosity when we bring the groceries in, giving each bag a thorough sniff to see what's inside.

Alas, they spent the day at the Day Spa today, leaving my models soft and sweet smelling for the Holiday but very, very tired.

You wouldn't think getting a bath was so exhausting, but apparently it is.

Even Zachary gave me the bare minimum and Henry put forth even less.

Reflection

Henry: "One minute I'm fast asleep..."

Henry: "… the next I'm wearing Glacier Glasses and tangled in a ribbon."

Henry: "I clearly need more Cookies."

Had I realized how beautifully the ribbon reflected off the floor , especially when not competing with the boys reflections (see last shot, below) I would have ditched the glasses altogether!

Pride of Lions?

Henry: "First, we need a Test Shot to make sure the lights and shadows look good,
and all the batteries are working."

Henry: "Then we put our costumes on and repeat the Test Shot.
You'll know Momma skipped this step when you see pictures
with the top of our hats or antennas cropped off.  She's off to get my co-star, now.
Oh, I'm so excited! Momma said it's going to be a Lion!"

(silence)

Henry: "Oh boy."

A solid stay, especially in the face of Cookies, is the Gateway to a successful Canine Modeling Career.

In this case, the Cookie is sitting on the floor between Miss Kitty's paws and has done its job capturing Henry's undivided attention.

I'm very particular about my "photography cookies", using Zuke's Mini Bakes* in various flavors that I purchase 10 boxes at a time (300+ treats per box) and go through way too rapidly.

The cookies are small (kidney bean-sized), the boys like them enough to want to do anything I ask but not so much that they forget the job at hand, don't crumble, don't leave a noticeable smell on my fingers, and most importantly are NON-GREASY.

I can't stress enough how greasy fingers and cameras do NOT go together.

The problem with smelly fingers is that the boys' noses will catch the scent as I'm moving about, causing them to move as well.

The problem with crumbly cookies is they leave cookie dust on other props.

And that's probably WAY more than anybody wanted to know about the dog cookies I use!

Today, the boys' job was to join Miss Kitty as a Pride of lions.
